A Heart like Tess

A Heart like Tess

Tess became part of The Wallace Dogs in April of 2004. She was the 5th one of the litter that was born and also the smallest of the litter. What she lacked in size she more than made up for with heart, a trait that is still apparent to this day. Tess was originally going to go the Mew Mexico and live out her days chasing the Blue, Gambles and Scale Quail that you will find there. As with anything in life though things change and the person that had committed to her could not take her, so Tess’s home was now with us, and each day I am thankful that fate played a hand in where she would end up. As a young pup of 8 weeks of age she showed a fearless side that set her apart from the rest. She never stopped this trait she still has to this day. When the rest of her siblings were sleeping you could see the pair of black eyes in the corner staring up at you. She was one of the first to walk, and what she lacked in size she made up for with heart.

At 6 month of age Tees, Charlie and Allie went to K&L Kennels in Higginsville , MO to start there formal training. They all did well and John did a great job with them and 2 months later they were ready to come home. I started running her in trials in November of 2004 and 7 months of age. She did well finishing in 3rd in the Hunter Division in her very first trial! From there she continued to get better, and she has one of the nicest points you will ever see. Tess continued to show the same heart and never quit attitude as she continued to mature. She was qualified for the NBDCA Nationals at 10 months of age, and was running with the big dogs at 11 month of age. In February of 2006 Tess won the Classic Championship held at Bunker Hill Hunting Resort in Hastings NE. she was only 19 months old at the time. This is a very tough tournament as she was going against some of the top dogs in the country. Tess had the first run in the finals on Sunday and her time of 4:03 clean managed to hold for the next 11 runs. Tess like a fine wine has gotten better with age, now at 5 years old her and her sibling are able to compete with some of the best dogs on the circuits’. We are looking for great things out of her in the fall of 2009.
Who says great things don’t come in small packages?
